I wonder… how soon is NOW?
That's right! Quilt Market season is just around the corner, and that of course means new collections, new patterns, new quilts, new projects and oh well, just a whole bunch of super exciting things! And what better way to share my enthusiasm than A GIVEAWAY A WEEK?
No, you don't need to go get your glasses, I did say "a Giveaway a week"!! I'm proud to present the GIVEAWAY TUESDAYS; every Tuesday new prizes will be introduced, and the following Tuesday, winners will be announced!
But let's have a little less conversation and a little more action:
This Tuesday's winner will be getting an actual QUILT FABRIC KIT from my Belle Epoque collection (I'm feeling nostalgic!)
WARNING: Serger and thread not included!!
For the 2nd prize, I'll be giving away an ASSORTED FABRIC BUNDLE, from several different collections, mix and match and see what beautiful things you can do!
To enter, please drop me a line telling me what style of handbag would you like to see on a pattern, for a chance to win these fabulous prizes!
Well, I'll be eagerly waiting for your replies, and remember winners will be announced next Tuesday, and so will my next Giveaway prizes! Good luck to you all!
Love,
Pat.

I tried to make a bucket type bag with a flap closure, that I could use a border print to make. I had some really neat old men’s shirts that I was going to use to make them. My design didn’t quite work, though. Got anything like that?

I’ve been looking for a good clutch purse for a while and haven’t found any that I like. I’m getting close to just making one instead. I’d love some good clutch patterns.

For the past few months I had been obsessed with pleats but am getting sick of them. I guess a bag without pleats, with a shape that is not too playful but not too simple, too. Not too big but large enough to hold everything I need. I was thinking the Sophia Carry All by Amy Butler but not as round and a tiny bit larger but flatter. And maybe different attachement of the straps and not with a zipper. Zippers are neat but they can be very tricky.

I’d love a good tote/handbag with creatively concealed pockets that has style and is big but deceptively so – i.e. it doesn’t look like a suitcase (and isn’t more than 14″ wide at the bottom). :)

I’m looking for a bag pattern that has a small handle for carrying in the crook of your arm, but also has a long strap to go around the shoulder for when you need to go hands free. Inside pockets would be nice, and not too big, but big enough to put essentials every Mom needs. Something reaaly nice that an advanced beginner coul still make.

I’d like to see a bag with pin tuck pleats. Sort of fanning from the top down. I’m not a designer so it is hard for me to figure out the details :-) Thanks for such a sweet giveaway!

The bigger the bag the better I say! I like bigger bags with pleats and two straps (a big bag needs to have two straps). I think a bigger bag would also be really nice for showcasing your fabrics!

mmm any bag is good for me, but I’d specially like one I can put A4 size papers in that I can take to work, not to serious but not to … either… You know what I mean!?

I’m looking for a pattern for the perfect tote to carry my small sewing projects with me. It would need to have compartments for scissors, thread, buttons, maybe a pocket for some instruction sheets and various tools like my handy-dandy YO-YO makers, and of course your awesome fabric! Something that could be made simply with maybe just a flap and a big button, rather than a zipper. How does that sound?

A bag that’s pretty but practical. It has pockets, inside and out. I need to have an easy pocket on the outside to stash my keys. A single shoulder strap. But it has to be pretty too…be it pleats or ruffles, or any embellishments added to it.

A bag that a laptop fits in easily would be great. And if it used grommets to attach the handles, even better!

My favorite handbags are those that are roomy enough to hold lots…but not so oversized that they look “too big!”

I like bucket shaped bags with pockets inside and a shoulder handle. This with a pattern that lends itself to 2-3 coordinating fabrics. I need room, but if it’s too big it gets a little heavy because I will fill it!

I like to see a pattern for a hipster bag, you know, something that fits your cell, a little lip gloss, car keys, small wallet. Something you could put over your shoulder and it doesn’t way a ton. Something that you could carry on an all day shopping trip and not have it be in the way. No zippers, please. A flap, cute button, something funny.

My faves are bucket style bags with pockets inside and outside.

I would like to see more handbags with zipper closures. My girls forever complain about bumping their purses over and the contents falling out all over the place. Not good in college classes! I’m horrible at zips, but good instructions would help.

I’d like a bag that can carry everything I need, including a couple diapers and wipes, and keep it organized.

I’d like a bag that has a chunky bottom that will sit and stay! A medium size with a shoulder strap would be perfect. A closure that’s not a zipper and lots of pockets. That should do it:)

Tote bags are always handy and make great gifts. Maybe one with some special details on the pockets. . .

I would really like to see a messenger style bag, but smaller bag size. Lets put it this way I have a very large dog and going places with him and a regular bag can be very fustrating. I have only been able to find one bag that crosses across the chest, messenger style, but it was from an out doors store and it isn’t very cute. I would really like to make my own in a simlar style with cute fabric :)

I’d love to see a backpack purse. Not huge like you are going hiking! Just nice sized. I need to wear a backpack all of the time because of fibromyalgia and they are not that easy to find. I have gotten so used to them I love them. Your hands are always free and you don’t set your bag down somewhere when you are shopping and leave it.

all bags can be fun but would like one with variety of interior pockets, a flap closure with pocket on that for keys (or maybe just a clever key loop.

I just tried Amy Butler’s Messenger Bag pattern and thought it was great but insanely overkill. I would love a stylish, yet simple type messenger bag type bag with adjustable straps and can be made a in a few different size options.

I could use some sort of beach bag that can be closed, so the goodies don’t fall out. Big enough to stash the shorts & t-shirt. A couple of inside pockets for the lotion, hand wipes, the book etc. Outside pockets for the cell phone, car keys,& sunglasses.

Oh what a fun giveaway!
I would love a bag that keeps things from flopping around on the inside. Not just pockets, but maybe a divider or two. Sounds hard to make to me. I guess it would be an organizer of sorts. Of course pockets on the outside so I can get to my keys fast or lip gloss. Then a little blind pocket on the outside for my door access card for work. So far, the scanner can read it through the walls of my current purse. It’s a pain to have to dig for it when you need to access the building in a hurry.
Just a thought…..
take care,

I’ve been looking for a pattern for a sewing project travel bag; something that could be opened up on your lap with all your sewing needs easily accessed, a place for your pattern would be nice to, in addition to a place for your fabrics. I am thinking that something like this would be great for air travel as you don’t have alot of room to lay everything out!

Handbag style? Hmmm . . .
I want a shoulder bag with a pocket on the outside for keys and phone. I want a pocket on the inside to hold my coin purse. I want it to be medium sized. Not as large as a tote. Not as small as a clutch. It needs to hold my checkbook and wallet and lipstick. I don’t need pleats–too fussy. And I want it to close on top so stuff doesn’t fall out–snap or zipper.

Big and Simple!!! Let’s face it, us ladies are carrying everything in our bags these days! I like just clean simple lines and easy to sew but with inside pockets for organizing. Thanks for always listening!

I’d love to see a medium size shoulder bag that has some sort of organizing system inside, like sections and secret pockets that are zipped, and snapped and left open to drop things in like keys, or coins. The bag should be closed so things don’t scatter everywhere if it falls over.

Can you design a bag that is like a backpack but actually a handbag- not oversize but big enough for the essentials so when I go to a craft show or something similar I can use it for a handbag but sling it on my back out of the way when I want to look at all those yummy fabrics. We are all such a demanding lot aren’t we. love your blog and all your yummy fabrics

A cute fanny pack that could also be used as a shoulder bag. Just the right size for essentials and hands free for shopping, etc. Thanks for your inspiration and your giveaway.

I like a bag that can hold my stuff and a book when I choose to throw one in. I also like pockets on the inside so I can find my keys with out having to make it to the bottom of the bag. Medium sized not to big but not to small. I love your fabric!

I’d like to see a large tote-ish bag with a stiff rectangular bottom, multiple inside compartments (not just a zipper pocket in one side of the lining and a non-zipper pocket on the other side, the kind where it’s actually divided in the middle), and pockets on the outside that close with flaps or similar. Also the bag should have some sort of styling that prevents it from just looking like a giant rectangle or square–like shaping or contrast fabric panels or something.
