Hello my fellow makers!

I hope you all are doing great! Lately, I've been focusing on talking more about the substrates we carry and the things you can do with them. If you have been following along I already talked about Canvas fabrics and some projects you can make with this substrate. Also, my friend Aleksandra shared a video of Mister Domestic in which he will give you some tips when sewing with canvas. Today, I will talk all about Voile fabric, give you some tips when sewing with this substrate and I will give you the links to some of my favorite patterns! 

So let's get started!

AGF Voile fabric characteristics:

• Voile is a lightweight, semi-sheer, woven fabric that is 100% cotton. Voile tends to have a higher thread count and a tighter weave than most cotton fabrics, making it very soft and silky to the touch. This substrate is known for its light drape. Not only is it lightweight but breathable which makes it great for summer dresses, skirts, tops and more! 
• Voile sometimes needs to be lined to make it wearable because it might get too transparent.
• It doesn't stretch like other cotton fabrics and creases iron very nice.
• It's recommended to sew with a size 9 needle if possible or the universal standard needle due to its tighter weave.
• Cotton embroidery thread is perfect to use with this fine fabric.
• French seams are always used for this type of fabric. Also, A serged finish is possible as well. Hems can be top stitched by machine or hand-rolled.

AGF Voile Care:

• Wash warm, normal cycle.
• Tumble dry low.
• Use only non-chlorine bleach
• Use warm iron.
• A common question: "Should I pre-wash the fabric?" Pre-washing is up to you. Our fabrics shrinkage is minimal (about 3%).

My favorite thing about Voile is its versatility. You can make things like chic scarves and free-flowing dresses.. Sweet camisoles and feather weight quilts. Well, with Voile possibilities are endless! I definitely encourage you to use voile fabric in your products! I am sure you will love it as much as I do.
