Hello Sewing Friends,
I love the days when sewing projects come out seamless and effortlessly! Definitely makes up for the not so graceful days in the sewing room, like sewing injuries, cutting pieces wrong, sewing the wrong pieces together, etc. Unpleasant sewing days we all can relate to but we all keep coming back each day because of our passion for fabrics and creating! So when we find a fun sewing hack or method our hearts skip a beat with excitement! Which is why I want to talk a little bit about AGF’s 2.5 Binding Fabric and how it's not just perfect for binding but in so many other ways.
AGF’s 2.5 binding fabric has adorable small scale designs that can show up nice and clear even on small quilting units. Most of the designs are in a linear pattern creating a stripe design. Which is why I thought making Half Square Triangles using the Tube Method would make for the cutest HST designs.
All you need is to grab your favorite 2.5 Edition Fabric, cut on the pre marked dashed line and cut out another 2.5 width strip from coordinating Pure Solid fabric. Place right sides together and sew ¼” on each long side of fabric and use your 2 ½” square ruler lining the 45 degree line up to the bottom stitch line and the topstitch line and cutting out the more accurate 2 ½” HST’s. Watch the video below to try for yourself.
I used the “Southwest Bound” 2.5 Edition because I loved the teal and peach combo with that boho feel. I matched it back with “Mirage Blue” Pure Solid. Which complements the print so nicely!
Chain piece row after row of strips and have fun cutting away using the Tube Method for half square triangles to get tons of HST’s to use for future sewing projects! What is your favorite 2.5 Edition print? I can’t wait to try this method with all the different prints and come back to show you more 2.5 Edition fun!
Until Next time,
Happy Sewing!
