Once the top is complete, lay it flat and right side up on top of the backing fabric. Smooth out any wrinkles and pin the two pieces together.

Step 3:

Sew the two layers together using a straight or decorative stitch across the blanket, removing all of your pins as you go.

Step 4:

Lay the blanket right-side up and fold over the overlapping backside to create your binding which will be about .5”. Pin as you go.

Step 5:

Beginning at one corner, sew a decorative stitch all the way around your blanket, tucking in any raw edges.

Beautiful picnic blanket! I love this fabric line, especially Picnic in the hills. I think I would make a blanket similar to the one in this tutorial. The large blocks show off the beauty of the prints. Thanks for the chance to win.

Loved the Blossom blanket. It is perfect for a picnic…which, btw, picnic by the river was my favorite bundle. It was tough to decide though as I loved them both. Hum…what to do….I would look at what I am currently working (too many to mention) and see what worked in those, then put the rest into my stash.

Hmmm, I think I like Picnic by the River best, although they’re both dynamite! I would first make a 241 tote. Then I’d probably make a hundred more totes. This fabric is great!

Oh how I love this! I live in a little town called Fairhope, AL where picnicking is such a Sunday tradition. I love mixing lovely and bright fabrics like this together, in fact all of my picnic blankets have been made from cuttings of fabric and I get compliments on them constantly. I also design and make aprons and baby accessories as a little hobby to detox from my job as a hairstylist! To me, seeing bright and fun fabrics like these just make the experience of sewing them together to form something truly unique that much more exciting!!! I can’t get enough! I LOVE the Florscape Merigold, Great Bright Madarin, Summer Grove, and Sprinkled Noon!

I just adore this fabric line. All of the fabrics are beautiful but if I had to lean towards one, I would lean more towards the Picnic by the Hills. My husband and I are expecting our first child this summer and I am planning on making a Welcome To Motherhood quilt for myself to have with me during my labor and delivery. I have searched high and low for a fabric collection that spoke femininity, life, and motherhood. I plan on using the whole collection for my quilt. I would love the opportunity to win such gorgeous collection of fabric! Thanks for putting on such a fabulous giveaway!

Beautiful fabrics for your picnic blanket—I only wish you had shown the whole blanket so I could see what the placement of the fabrics looked like. I like Picnic by the River the best and would either make a quilt with the fabrics or some cloth napkins would be really pretty with them.

Something with large pieces to show off the prints . Probably use one of the Art Gallery free quilt patterns that I’ve been saving for a project.
