Step 3:

Sew the two layers together using a straight or decorative stitch across the blanket, removing all of your pins as you go.

Step 4:

Lay the blanket right-side up and fold over the overlapping backside to create your binding which will be about .5”. Pin as you go.

Step 5:

Beginning at one corner, sew a decorative stitch all the way around your blanket, tucking in any raw edges.

What a wonderful idea for a picnic blanket, and the simplicity of it along with the beautiful Leah Duncan fabric is wonderful! If I had a bundle of Meadow, I would love to make some nice pillows for my bedroom and re-do the lampshades on our bedside tables. We’re painting our master, and either of Meadows color palettes would fit nicely into the color scheme I am doing. It’s a tough choice to choose between the two color ways but if I have to it would be Picnic by the River but only by a hair! Thank you for the opportunity to win this beautiful fabric.

I love Leah’s fabrics and am still plotting what to make with the half yard bundle I bought of meadow. Definitely a quilt but it has to be the right pattern. My favorite color way is also hard to pick, so I’m going to say river since my allergies are so bad right now I’d be happy to dunk my head in one!
