Fun Cutting Method – Aztec Block

Hello Fabric Friends,

Hope you all had a fun July 4th! Today I have a great new quilt block tutorial for you called the Aztec Block! I sewed it up with Arizona After fabrics by April Rhodes which I think was a perfect choice. I am loving the warm earthy tones in this collection and lately it’s all I been wanting to sew with! For this tutorial all you need is four different 10″ squares of  fabric!

Happy Sewing,

It would be simpler to sew the two different blocks together before cutting them, keep them together, square up , be sure to keep the stitched seam towards you , then reverse the strips and so together you have to make 4/ half square blocks to achieve a whole squash blossom.
The squares should make 2 large flying geese before you cut them. Remember to cut away from the stitched seam.

It isn’t at all clear that the blocks need to be mirror images of each other or how that is best accomplished. I followed the tutorial and my blocks are all identical. They can not be arranged to make the pattern. I’ll play with this but perhaps you could edit your tutorial?
